Recipe — Fried Green Tomatoes

It’s that time of year again.  The time of year that my father in law drives us nuts wanting all the Fried Green Tomatoes he can eat.  So here’s his supper simple recipe for:

Fried Green Tomatoes


2 Large green tomatoes (preferably just showing color)

1 cup Flour

pinch of Seasoned Salt

pinch of Pepper

1/2 cup Corn Meal or Bread Crumbs (optional)

Bacon Grease or Margarine/Butter

Place flour, corn meal/bread crumbs, salt, and pepper in a bag.  Add your tomatoes and mix until covered.

Make sure your grease or margarine is hot before you place the tomatoes in the oil.  Fry until golden brown and very tender.

Served hot as a side dish or his preference on white bread that is lightly buttered in the form of a sandwich.
